Skiing in Spain

Come and get some winter sun on the Costa Brava ! In the winter months, Spain is a cold country with lots of sun. Stable high pressure weather patterns and calm winds make "beach days" a real possibility throughout December, January and February. Warm sunny days give way to cold clear nights and the Villa is fully winterised with double glazing throughout, gas central heating throughout, warm winter duvets and a natural log fire for cosy evenings. Go for an al fresco lunch at one of the many beach restaurants one day and ski the Pyrenees the next. We have a dozen ski resorts within 2 hours of the Villa. After a great day in the mountains, relax in our heated (38º) exterior hot tub / spa / Jacuzzi or try our indoor sauna.

Take advantage of the low budget air fares and get some winter sun away from the heat and crowds of the summer months. In the winter months, the Costa Brava is perfect for hiking, cycling, playing golf or just taking in the fantastic, panoramic views from the Villa. More often than not, you'll be able to have your Christmas lunch on the kitchen terrace. Away from the crowds of the summer months you'll have the choice of which beachside restaurant in which to have an al fresco lunch.

New Years Eve on the Costa Brava is celebrated with local fiestas throughout the region. We recommend that you can see out the old and welcome in the new from the comfort of the heated exterior hot tub and our spectacular views over Calonge from the Jacuzzi terrace. The Spanish celebrate New Years Eve by eating twelve grapes, one for each of the 12 tolls of the bell of the last 12 seconds of the old year. Being situated in Cava country, we're well placed to celebrate the new year with some excellent local bubbly.

Of course, when Christmas and New Years Eve have passed for the northern Europeans, the Spanish are just starting to get into the Christmas spirit as they celebrate the Three Kings (Los Reyes Magos). On the 5th of January there are processions all over the region where sweets are thrown from floats to all the people who come out to watch. On January the 6th, this is the traditional time for family get togethers and the giving and receiving of gifts. Come and join in with the celebrations !
